Finished Patchwork Cushion

Patchwork Cushion Posted by Picasa

I finished all the patches a few weeks ago, then started putting all together last week. It took nowhere near as long to put together as I thought it would. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out.
The patch that I found the hardest to knit was the small blue heart on the left hand side. After several attempts of trying to knit it I left to do the rest of the patches, after finishing the other patches the pattern just clicked in my brain and I did it. It's weird, one week I was looking at the pattern with a puzzled expression thinking "WHAT?", then the next week it just came to me.

Rowan 38

Rowan 38 Posted by Picasa

My Rowan 38 came this week. There are a few things I like in it, but I think the chances of me making them are quite slim. I decided to tot up how much it would cost to buy the yarn for each item I liked, here lies the reason that I probably won't be making any of them.

Am I the only one who thinks that they're a little expensive?

Have you noticed I've changed my template? I was getting bored of the pink. If anyone knows where I can get free backgrounds and stuff, let me know?

Remember Peppermint Twist?

Peppermint Twist is now a 100% finished, instead of been in pieces. It took many attempts to get the strips to line up on the second side seam. The first side went together no problem, but the second side was a pain in the arse.
The pattern tells you to slip the stitches onto holders, sew the pieces together, then put all the stitches on you circular needle to make the neckband, but I couldn't figure out how to do that, so I decide to cast off and then pick up the stitches later, which I managed on the second attempt.
So here is the result.

I'm really happy with how it's turned out.

I've also finished the first pair of socks for my sisters. In her infinite wisdom she decided that she wanted one light pink sock and one dark pink sock. I do worry about her sometimes!!!!

Let the reading begin.

Harry Potter is here. Whoooo.

In the post this morning! Posted by Picasa

Yes, I'm 23 and I love Harry Potter books. I'm not so fond of the films, they miss out too much of the story for my liking.
I'm reading The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon at the moment, but I afraid that it is going to have to be put to one side for the time being.

Socks, socks and more socks.

I finished my Petticoat socks about a week ago. I hit a slight snag part way through the second sock, with the colour pattern in the yarn. For some reason the yarn decided to go really dark, so I had to cut out about a meter or so. But apart for that they seamed to knit up really quickly. I'm getting the hang of this knitting of socks malarkey! I think I'm going to get another ball of Petticoat, because I think I'll be able to make 1 sock with what I have left from the first pair and if I get another then I'll have 3 pairs of lovely Petticoat socks.

In other sock news - hence the title, my sister has requested some pink socks. So I got her 2 shades of Opal Uni 4 ply.

I made a Clanger!

I started making the Clanger in May for my sister, though she didn't know after I'd knit all the pieces I put them in my knitting bag and kind of forgot about them for a while. Then last week I decided it was time to unite all the pieces and make them one. I put on all the other bits on over the weekend.

The plan was to give it to her as I surprise, but that plan was foiled when she found it in the cupboard and wondered what the hell it was - it was a naked clanger at the time. Once she found out what it was she was really pleased.
